Went hiking in the San Gabriels, Angeles National Forest. Came across a fantastic waterfall with a deep pool at its base. The rest of the creek wasn't great for fishing, but this pool produced two tough, chunky rainbows, around the 12-14'' range. First was caught on a soft plastic worm/jighead, the second on a Yo-Zuri Snap Bean imitation lure. Both released to be caught another day.

commentsyea i just copped some yo zuri snap beans thanks! darn they were expensive for 2.. 8.99 hah i had no patience.. do u suggest 2lb mono, tied to the lure , no swivel?
Reply2lb works best for me, but keep in mind you'll have to be REALLY careful with it. I throw 2lb Fluoro instead of mono for these light weights.
ReplyI've also used them on 4lb mono but I felt the 2lb was better. Don't expect amazing range on casting 'em, helps to have a longer fishing rod too.
Be sure to fish them very, very slow. Too fast and you'll kill the action. Try 'em out near the shore and find the perfect retrieve for them! Good luck!
Be nice.
